Sgt Colby Richmond Killed in Afghanistan

Yanceyville Post 89 reports today that Sergeant Colby Richmond was killed in Afghanistan last Thursday August 25th. He was killed when a tractor-trailer he was driving was hit by an IED.  Sergeant Richmond enlisted in 2006 and deployed to Afghanistan in August 2010.  He was a member of Transportation Unit 546.

Sergeant Richmond  lived in Providence, NC.   He is survived by his wife, 6 year old son and his mother.  Read more and view digtriad.com news.

At this time, VFW Post Commander Fred Smith, Post 7316, does  not know the details of funeral arrangements, a memorial was held yesterday, August 31, at Ft Bragg.  His body is still in Dover, Delaware.  He will keep the district advised.
