The Durham County Veteran Services would like to invite you to join them on Tuesday, November 11th as Durham County holds its annual Veterans’ Day Recognition and Celebration Program from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Durham County Health and Human Services Building located at 414 East Main Street, 2nd Floor Public Meeting Room. Parking is available in the Human Services Parking Lot located on the corner of Main and Dillard Street.
The annual Veterans’ Day program is an opportunity on behalf of a grateful nation to formally recognize all of our veterans in this community and across the nation for their service and sacrifice in the defense of our country. There will be a light lunch served following the program.
This year as part of our Veteran’s Day Program they are hosting a Citizenship Naturalization Ceremony. The candidates for American citizenship are all members of the U.S. Military Armed Forces and will be granted citizenship upon taking the “Oath of Allegiance.”
The Honorable Congressman, David E. Price will be Special Guest Speaker and will deliver introductory remarks for the citizenship portion of our program.
The Keynote Speaker for this event will be Cheryl Rawls, Director of the Winston-Salem, VA Regional Office Veterans Benefits Administration. She is a former Army Airborne Officer and a dynamic speaker who will bring an inspiring message.
Jay Weselmann, is the new Field Office Director of the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the Durham office. He will administer the “Oath of Allegiance.”
